Yes, as registered massage therapist my treatments are covered by most insurance providers. It is important to check your individual insurance plan to see how much coverage you have, if you require a doctors note, etc. Each plan if different and it is your responsibility to look into your plan.
Yes, at both locations I work at we offer direct billing. However not all policies allow direct billing and sometimes the systems are down and other technical errors do occur. You should arrive prepared to pay for your appointment just in case. You will always be provided a reciept with all the information you need to submit to your insurance. Also note that not all policies cover 100%, you pay need to pay a small portion of the massage therapy treatment out of pocket, this is why it is strongly suggested to check your insurance policy prior to your appointment.
Mulberry Wellness is accessible, however only one treatment room is accessible in the clinic, so it is important that the clinic knows ahead of time if you will require an accessible space for your appointment.
Diana Llynne Massage Therapy is not accessible, the location is down a few stairs in the lower level of the building.
I would recommend wearing something comfortable and easy to put back on after your massage. During your massage you can keep on whatever clothing is the most comfortable for you. It is suggested to keep your lower under garments on, if you wear a bra and would like to keep it on, that is absolutely fine, I can work around it or unclasp the back while working on your back- we will discus what is the most comfortable for you. Keeping in mind that skin to skin contact during your massage is beneficial but it is not necessary. What is most important to me is that you are comfortable and feel safe. Also note that you will be covered by a sheet and blanket during your massage, with only the area I am currently working on uncovered. At no point will any private areas or areas you do not consent to being worked on be exposed.
It is normal to experience a mild to moderate amount of soreness the day or two after your massage. You should not be in pain after your massage. Resting and taking it easy the day or two after your massage will help reduce soreness.
I always tell my clients to pay attention to how long they feel well for after their massage and that will help you determine how often you want to come for massage therapy treatments. Every 4-8 weeks is a good goal, but you can come as frequently or infrequently as you feel fits your need and lifestyle. Planning a marathon or a big trip? It can be nice to plan an appointment shortly before and after. Massage therapy can be used to treat acute conditions or used for maintaining wellness.
Absolutely. I recommend for children to come in for 30 min appointments, I never want to overwork their bodies and it is a long time for most kids to stay still and quiet. Teens can often come for longer appointments, 45 or 60 min depending on what they'd prefer and what their lifestyle is like. Often children are more comfortable if their parent or guardian stays with them during the massage, I encourage this to make them feel as safe and comfortable as possible.
